Challenges

Server and Game Administration Regulations

In an online tournament that integrates two regions, it is common to encounter issues with player ping differences due to server location disparities across the regions. Unlike LAN tournaments, where all players are in the same physical location, online tournaments are played from various locations. As a result, the distance and ping to the game servers can vary significantly, which can create an unfair advantage for players or teams located closer to the server. This can cause problems for players who experience higher pings, leading to delays or lag, which can ultimately affect their performance and potentially determine the outcome of the tournament

Brand Visibility

Tech companies need to employ diverse marketing strategies to reach different target audiences, as traditional methods may not always be effective in reaching certain groups. In the case of the esports industry, which primarily attracts young, tech-savvy gamers, it is important for tech brands to explore alternative marketing channels such as influencer marketing, content marketing, and event sponsorships to effectively connect with their desired audience.

Solutions

Game Server Veto

In order to address the issue of player ping differences in an online tournament that integrates two regions, teams are often given the option to choose the game server they will be playing on. This choice is typically determined through a coin toss or similar method and occurs before the match during the map veto process. To ensure fairness, a game administrator is usually present to oversee the server selection and prevent any potential abuses of the system. By allowing teams to choose their server location, tournament organizers can mitigate the impact of high pings and ensure a more level playing field for all participants.
